tUnE-yArDs IS 'GANGSTA'

This song is a commentary on white people trying to fit into subcultures dominated by minorities, African Americans and Jamaicans, respectively. It’s summarized well in the line,

Move into his neighborhood, he’ll never make a sound
It’s referring to the lack of solidarity many of these white posers have with the actual problems of the minorities they are trying to identify with. For instance, gentrification and the disintegration of their historic neighborhoods.

MERCURY REV - SENSES ON FIRE [SNOWFLAKE MIDNIGHT, 2008]

One night, some years before, riding the bicycle, I came across this song in my head...
It was the sound that approached my thoughts for a few minutes, but something lasted more. I felt like I should relief myself from planned issues...
It had put fire on my senses.
No more need for interesting things to say at first moments, just the energy to release in the air. That night, nobody knew what exactly was!

(No)veteran space-pop-rockers Mercury Rev release their seventhstudio album, Snowflake Midnight, after a three-year gap since 2005's The Secret Migration.
