WAREIKA - 'ONE NATION (VERSION TO THE SUN)' AND 'BAZAR' // WHEN CRAZY BALKAN RHYTHMS MEET FULL BALEARIC FRESHNESS

The influence of Balkan folk, jazz, dub and a splash of Balearic sunshine generates here a unique sound.
On this new album (Wternal, 2013) Wareika looks set to continue their sonic and electronic explorations of traditional folk, Balkan-jazz, balaeric soul and garden house ('One Nation').
This made possible thank to their unique use of vintage synthesisers and dubby rhythms, taking inspiration from all the tours they’ve done over the last 3 years!

Wareika consists of musicians Henrik Raabe, Jakob Seidensticker and Florian Schirmacher, and together they form one of the very few live bands on the international electronic circuit.
"Of course we are a bunch of electronic music producers, but before that, we are a band”.
They first came together in 2007 and since then have released on acclaimed labels like Eskimo, Future Classic and Circus Company, as well as three studio albums on Perlon, Connaisseur and Tartelet Records...

JANA HUNTER - 'SLEEP' [THERE'S NO HOME, 2007]

    Sleep, sleep
    The night is through
All of your demons are coming for you
All that we've seen may not all be true
Sleep as the sky starts turning blue
Sleep as the day is born anew
Sleep as the wandering eye sleeps, too
    Sleep
Your seas are sleeping with you

    Sleep, sleep
    The day is done
Hide as does the setting sun
All of your racing has just begun
Sleep as the light starts coming undone
The children start having all the fun
The women are restless and carrying on
    Sleep
In sleep you'll dream you've won

CHARLIE FEATHERS - 'SHE SET ME FREE / THAT CERTAIN FEMALE' (1974)

Probably, one of the greatest country and rockabilly singers of all times!
And if you think, Charlie Feathers worked at an ambulance driver, stock car racer, and kept recording, making dozens of albums for as many labels, so many they're hard to figure out...

    http://grooveshark.com/#!/search/song?q=Von+LMO+This+Is+Pop+Rock

    This is pop rock
    So c'mon, baby
So pick up your feet, get up and dance

    She's so sexy
    Very sensual
    She listens to the radio
    For the latest earthquake

    This is pop rock
    You can sing along
So pick up your feet, get up and dance...

ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT [LITERATURE, 1929]

I am young, I am twenty years old; yet I know nothing of life but despair, death, fear, and fatuous superficiality cast over an abyss of sorrow.
I see how peoples are set against one another, and in silence, unknowingly, foolishly, obediently, innocently slay one another.
I see that the keenest brains of the world invent weapons and words to make it yet more refined and enduring.
And all men of my age, here and over there, throughout the whole world see these things; all my generation is experiencing these things with me.
What would our fathers do if we suddenly stood up and came before them and proffered our account?
What do they expect of us if a time ever comes when the war is over?
Through the years our business has been killing; it was our first calling in life.
Our knowledge of life is limited to death. What will happen afterwards?
And what shall come out of us?

DELANEY ALLEN - IN VISIBILITY [FOTOGRAF]

THE POP GROUP [FOR HOW MUCH LONGER DO WE TOLERATE MASS MURDER?, 1980]

"For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder?"

"The rape of the Third World, Western bankers decide who lives and who dies"
Muzika energjike nuk humb as per nje minute intensitetin, gjurme me tituj provokues, bori dhe kitare bass qe luajne ne nje kakofoni moderne tingujsh dhe gjithcka ndodh nen emblemen e rebelimit social. Ajo cfare mungon sot, apo jo?
    Jete te gjate Mark Stewart!

"To wash your hands of the conflict, between the powerful and the powerless, means you are taking sides with the oppressors"

THE RESIDENTS - 'REST ARIA' [MEET THE RESIDENTS, 1974]

Takimi me vetveten. Braktisja me cdo gje qe lindi para teje. Kjo eshte ideologjia e grupit me eksperimental, avant-garde dhe te fshehur qe do te degjoni ndonjehere.
Gjeja e pare e pazakonte kur degjon albumin debut Meet The Residents (1974), madje edhe perpara se te shtypesh 'play', eshte se ti asnjehere nuk i takon me te vertete The Residents.
    Planet me vehte!

    VINTAGE VIOLENCE

"Maska prej xhami te shkrire simbolizon faktin qe kurre nuk shihet me te vertete personaliteti i njeriut...".

AKI KAURISMAKI - THE MAN WITHOUT A PAST [KINEMATOGRAF, FINLAND] // 'PAHA VAANII' (OST BY MARKO HAAVISTO)

"If you ever find me face down in the gutter, turn me around to my back..."

The Man Without A Past occupies the nebulous realms between emotions and moods. It's deadpan-comic and entropic-tragic, ironic and optimistic, detached and intimate...
A kind of movie that can wholly lack a plot yet still unfold with a sense of internal logic that makes every diversion inexplicably inevitable. That's no mean feat for a film where even the dialogue routinely floats out of comprehension, with the lead character suddenly going off on a tangent about visiting the moon as another humors him. When asked whether he met someone, the man replies, "Not really, it was a Sunday."

LUIGI GHIRRI - THINKING IMAGES. [FOTOGRAF, ITALY]

Luigi Ghirri revolutionized Italian photography in the 1970s with his fresh color snap-shot style observations of Italian contemporary culture.
His small delicately colored prints were conceived in series to create visual poems, gentle, but direct.
The small scale and modest demeanor of his prints belie their power...
