SHIGETO - COOL SHADES OF AMBIENT MUSIC, IDM, DUBSTEP SUB-BASS AND JAZZ MELODICISM

It’s his middle name; it’s also his grandfather’s name, a tribute to the Japanese branch of Zach Saginaw’s family tree. Shigeto also means “to grow bigger”; appropriate, given Zach’s premature birth-weight of less than a pound. Today, Shigeto stands for Zach’s vividly beautiful electronic music!

Beat-driven but given to richly textured sound design, rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous, Shigeto’s music is a bridge between the past and present, bringing the artist face to face with a creative legacy that spans decades.

Here the track 'Sacrificial' from Full Circle Remixes (2011); which I first listened to an outdoor party with girls dancing African-similar styles!

VOLOR FLEX AND BULB - 'CITY PRESSURE'

The story of this video follows a man feeling the pressures of modern city life.
Feeling like an outcast, the protagonist dons a mask as he journeys through the typical debaucheries of the city night time. Presented from the protagonists point of view, the video highlights his contempt for a society that has become one of lights and glamour.

For the most part of this video the character’s purpose is unclear until the end where it is revealed he is about to make a statement...

Dedication (4AD, 2011) is genuinely one for the fans.

Something created, crafted, cared for, that doesn't rely on the conjoined talents of other people; something that will always be able to relied upon when, perhaps, the human being behind it, can't.
The great magic of this record is that while acclimatisation to Zombyland is taking place, there's so much depth to explore, be it the bizarrely effective tonal shifts, the diversity of musical style, the sense of simplicity that, no doubt, veils immense complexity.
