HIATUS AND SHURA - 'RIVER' [FORTUNE'S FOOL, 2011]

"Meet me in the dust cloud... Meet me in the white light."

 

Hiatus: Shura and I both share an affection for music that mixes melancholic harmonies with moody basslines, and we’re both rigorous self-editors, constantly going back and trimming stuff down to its bare essentials.

I love the way Shura uses her voice like an instrument; layering and looping it in exactly the way I would if I was sampling her off a record.

For the most part she’ll come to me with vocals and a guitar line, and I’ll build the track up around that; occasionally she’s taken an old tune of mine and added lyrics...

FANFARLO - DHOMA TE MBUSHURA ME DRITE

Jane gjerat e vogla ato qe bejne te me pelqeje nje album i tille.

Pa shume pretendime (intelektualizma e persosshmeri ne studio), kenge te shkurtra indie-pop qe te japin idene se kur jane regjistruar, muzikantet e rinj jane kenaqur e kane qeshur shume...

E di, i paevitueshem krahasimi me Beirut; me kete neo-romanticitetin te dozuar me naivitet, qe me cdo kusht do te mbijetoje ne nje bote ku shpeshhere e me pak po flitet per ndjenja te bukura.

Do te jete numri i madh i instrumenteve gjate rregullimit te tingullit (violina, mandoline, trombe, kitare e tastiera), ndoshta koha per te pretenduar me te vertete me shume, sic kendonin MGMT me 'Time To Pretend', tekstet e mbushura me cilesi si  te atyre Arcade Fire (rivalet amerikane?) ose thjesht larmia ne teresi e ketyre elementeve, por fakti eshte se me albumin debut Reservoir (viti 2009), Fanfarlo u bene objekt diskutimi. Per mire, me duket!

 

Stili barok, tastiera 'toys', melodi melankolike sherbyen si sfond per filma ('Atlas') e seri televizive amerikane. Nuk mungojne marshe e kalerime ne hapesira te gjera, piecè teatrale ('Replicate') nga albumi Rooms Filled With Light, 2012), ninulla pa ze ('Good Morning Mindnight') e ankime zanore siberiane ('Tunguska')...

Muzika ben edhe kete; te shoqeron ne vende ende te pashkelura!

KUTMAH - UNDERGROUND AND ABSTRACT [FROM A DJ SKETCHBOOK]

When talking about Kutmah, it’s tempting to use an epithet such as “the best DJ you’ve never heard”, or “best kept secret”.

Justin McNulty was born in Brighton, England to an Egyptian mother and Scottish father. He moved to the United States when he was 12 years old and grew up in Hollywood, California. It was here where Justin became Kutmah and ultimately made a name for himself as a talented underground artist and DJ.

Kutmah became a member of LA’s dublab collective and then in 2004 he founded the celebrated clubnight ‘Sketchbook’ which forged fundamental roots of the now-infamous LA beat scene.
As an associate of Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder collective, his mixtures from his time spent on the West Coast are legendary amongst those that know, and he’s also released several of his own original records; even though he’s predominantly a DJ, with foundations in hip-hop ('Dirty Otis') and a record collection that spans far beyond the genre ('Shake').

Now that boilerroom.tv recorded him playing live, it is unnecessary to admit for sure; Kutmah  - one of the best underground music experience!

nuk bejme lidhje me te vetmen gjurme te albumit ne fjale (pothuajse 42min improvizime kitaresh e baterish!).
