Miqesia eshte po ajo; Brandon Bethancourt, pervec talentuozit Zach, i bashkohet edhe Heather Trost (violina e A Hawk And A Hacksaw).

Alaska In Winter eshte projekti plot kontraste zanore ku pianoja, drum-machine, violina e Trost dhe boria e Condon (ky merr pjese ne pese gjurme) ekuilibrohen, cuditerisht, ne menyre delikate dhe me teper sesa 'gjurulldi' ballkanike, rezultojne ne muzike per atmosfera melankolike e gati nokturne...

Prove e ketij sofistikimi orkestralo-synthtetik, pa e dominuar aspak ate nuancen 'me nivel ndjeshmerie te larte' te melodive te gadishullit te fanfarave, eshte 'Balkan Lowrider Athem'!

A HAWK AND A HACKSAW [YOU HAVE ALREADY GONE TO THE OTHER WORLD, 2013] - MUSIC INSPIRED BY PARANAJOV'S "SHADOWS OF FORGOTTEN ANCESTORS"

It will always be a pleasure for me remembering the time I met these two beautiful people.

It happened almost two years ago, when the duo came in Italy to perform music from their fifth album Cervantine (2011). And there was a moment, during the end of the show, when they both got down from the stage to play in the middle of a circle, young people had formed dancing sweat and full of joy!

The performances of their live soundtrack around Europe to the 1964 film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors by Georgian-born Armenian film director Sergei Parajanov, inspired the duo to take their tribute to the film further away, using traditional Ukrainian music as a trampoline for new variations and themes.

Containing dialogues and parts of the movie, the new album You Have Already Gone to the Other World (2013) is a wild journey, and a shame not to be enjoyed by the masses.

 

'But my take on folk music is that it's evolving and changing, it is a living thing. As far as our music, we're kind of rootless wanderers, we're affected by all sorts of music, not only Eastern European music, and these things come up in our music so it's very mixed.
We're just musicians who are doing what we love and doing what we feel we should be doing. The authenticity thing is, if you're looking for it, you won't find it with what we're doing. I guess our music is authentically A Hawk And A Hacksaw'. Jeremy Barnes

Mire. Keta jane A Hawk And A Hacksaw dhe vijne nga Nju Meksiko (Sh.B.A). As nuk kane lindur dhe as nuk jetojne ne Ballkan e megjithate dashurojne (me shkronja te medhaja kjo fjale!) keto ritme tonat e tradita. Pervec ndikimeve, moshes se re, stilit, mustaqeve dhe veshjeve new-etnic-chic, lujane ne fizarmonike (Jeremy Barnes) dhe ne violine (Heather Trost) kenge e balada te harruara prej vitesh e ndoshta prej shekujsh edhe nga vete ne ballkanasit.

Terheq idea qe nje i huaj dhe i larget kendon e luan muzike nga gadishulli i vjeter i aq-ngaterruar i Evropes Juglindore. Por edhe kenaq ama e ben te hedhesh valle kur i degjon.

E di, nuk duhet shume mund per kete, por te ben mire thelle-thelle ne zemer... Me te vertete!

Cfare kane bere? Pese albume ne studio, bashkepunime me Beirut, grupin tjeter me te njejtat 'shije muzikore' te Zach Condon, turne te shpeshta neper Evrope (meqe ra fjala: eshte kenaqesi t'i shohesh live!) dhe nje kultivim deshire te gjere per te rizbuluar edhe njehere muziken ballkanike. E sidomos per ta perhapur kete dhe bere te njohur pertej kufijve gjeografike
